You’ve had a haircut. Now try a tokoya.
Precise cuts, clean fades and a traditional face shave, from Aki and her Japanese team. Walk in, or call ahead.
In Japan, the neighbourhood barber is a craftsperson. Tokoya, 床屋, is the everyday word for that shop. Ours brings the same care to Enoggera Road: every line considered, every guest looked after.
お顔剃りThe Japanese face shave
In Japan, a visit to the barber often finishes with a shave. A warm towel, a straight razor, and slow, careful strokes across the cheeks, forehead and brows.
Most people in Brisbane have never had one. Japanese customers tell us they had given up on finding it outside Japan. Try it once and you will see why it is part of the ritual.

店主This is Aki's shop.
Aki brought her craft from Japan to Alderley. Regulars talk about the detail in a fade, the clean beard lines, and the conversation in the chair.
Kids are welcome too. The team keeps little ones entertained while they wait their turn.
Omotenashi. Japanese hospitality that looks after you before you think to ask. It is the word customers keep using about Aki.
“Great service, good pricing and friendly staff.”

Timber walls, green leather chairs, a pole that turns when the door is open. The room is half the reason people come back. Sit, breathe out, and let someone take care of you for half an hour.
Kids, students, seniors and concession save $10. Army save $5. Gallipoli Barracks is just up the road.
